ISE Academic Excellence and Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony of AY2022

On Friday, January 20, 2023, ISE organized the ISE Academic Excellence and Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony of AY2022, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Witaya Wannasuprasit, the director of the International Engineering Program, presided over the ceremony alongside administrators and faculty members, awarding certificates to outstanding students of the academic year 2022 and to recognize ISE's alumni who perform outstanding public services and contributions to ISE and the Faculty of Engineering, who are highly distinguished in their business, profession, or life's work, and who are the role model whose actions we can take pride in or whose actions inspire us all, this year ISE proudly presents the first Distinguished Alumni Awards to Khun Nattapat Lertviriyaswas (ADME class of 2015) and Khun Intouch Marsvongpragorn (ICE class of 2017).
Khun Nattapat Lertviriyaswas is the CEO of Edison Motors, the producer of the famous electric motorcycle, 'Edison Volta'. Edison Motors is a new startup who specializes in electric motorcycle innovation and is the first Thai brand to hit the 'ECO Trend' market. The innovation aims to reduce pollution, conserve energy, and reduce the expense for the consumers. Khun Intouch Marsvongpragorn is the CEO of Via Group (Thailand), the inventor of ViaBus - a real time public transport tracking and navigation application. ViaBus is the first of its kind in Thailand to integrate all modes of public transportation into one application. It changes the world of transportation, putting Thailand on the global stage and was awarded the Forbes 30 under 30 Asia - 2021 by Forbes magazine. Both Khun Nattapat and Khun Intouch also regularly support the activities and events of ISE students and the Faculty of Engineering.

Nano-Engineering students presented their research at the NanoSeries2025 – 4th Edition Conference on Global Nanotechnology, held at the University of Valencia, Spain. We are delighted to announce that our Nano-Engineering students presented their research at the NanoSeries2025 – 4th Edition Conference on Global Nanotechnology, held at the University of Valencia, Spain, from June 17–20, 2025. The research, “Stability Enhancement of Paraffin-Based Rocket Fuel Grains Using Carbon Nanotube and Graphene Nanocomposites Blend,” was conducted by Chawalwat Martkamjan (4th year), Jiruntanin Ratanarangsank (4th year), Pitchayut Lertniratwong (4th year), and Somalinavann Thav (2nd year), under the supervision of Dr. Apipon Methachittipan (ISE). Representing their team, Chawalwat Martkamjan and Somalinavann Thav shared their research in the poster session among an international group of advanced researchers, an experience they described as both rewarding and enlightening. Aligned with NanoSeries2025’s mission to foster collaboration, bridge research with real-world applications, and highlight the value of diversity and inclusion in science, their participation reflects not only the technical quality of their work but also the growing global presence of our students in advancing nanotechnology for aerospace and energy applications.

Congratulations to Dr. Aung Pyae and 4th-year ICE students for receiving an opportunity to present the research at the Global Forum on the Ethics of AI (GFEAI) 2025! On 24-27 June 2025, Dr. Aung Pyae, the lecturer of the Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), was presented his research titled "Human-Centered AI for Active Aging: A Personalized Activity Planner for Older Adults," which was awarded 3rd prize in the Best Paper category. Mr. Jirameth Sitasathien, a graduating 4th-year ICE student, presented our collaborative project with Turku University of Applied Sciences, Finland, titled "AI-Augmented Framework Development for XR and the Metaverse: From Expert Insight to Empirical Design – A Research Agenda." Mr. Sirawut Chanthavornkij, also a 4th-year ICE student, presented his Capstone project funded by the International School of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In the 30K COTS category of the competition, the University of Canterbury team won the first prize, and the University of Melbourne team the second among qualified 144 world-class aerospace engineering institutes including the University of California at Berkeley, Purdue University, University of Texas at Austin, and Seoul National University. The competition grand challenges reflects students’ aerospace engineering skills to design and develop a high-performance rocket capable of operating effectively in unpredictable atmospheric conditions. Moreover, the rocket featured a precise and reliable tracking system capable of accurately identifying its location. This achievement marks another milestone in the pursuit of high-quality education and advancement in aerospace technology.
