Inaugural Short Course on Helicopter Design for ISE Aerospace Students. Bangkok, 10 August 2025 – Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering (Chula Engineering), in partnership with the Vertical Flight Society (VFS), has successfully wrapped up the Inaugural Short Course on Helicopter and VTOL Design – an intensive programme designed to prepare Aerospace Engineering students for the upcoming VFS Student Design Competition 2025. The five-day course, held from 6–10 August 2025, was led by Dr Arvind Sinha, President of the VFS Australia Chapter. A globally recognised authority in vertical flight technology and aircraft design, Dr Sinha shared invaluable real-world expertise and mentored more than 40 Aerospace Engineering students, equipping them with both technical skills and industry perspective. The closing ceremony on Sunday 10 August was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. In his remarks, the Dean hailed the initiative as “a model for international academic collaboration that bridges theory and application, helping to equip our students for global competition and innovation.” Dr Auraluck Pichitkul, FHEA, Chair of the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering (International Program) at Suranaree University of Technology and President of the VFS Thailand Chapter, presented certificates to the participants and praised their dedication and creativity throughout the course. Special appreciation was also extended to Wg. Cdr. Jiravud Klongtrujrok, Ph.D., Vice President of the VFS Thailand Chapter, for his steadfast guidance and support to the students during the programme. This pioneering short course underscores Chula Engineering’s commitment to fostering hands-on learning, strengthening industry-academic links, and connecting Thai students to the global vertical flight community. It also marks the beginning of a stronger connection between Chulalongkorn University and the global vertical flight community. Professors from Institute of Science Tokyo Visit to Foster Research and Graduate Program Collaboration On June 20, 2025, the Nano-Engineering Program had the honor of welcoming Professor Masato Sone, Assistant Professor Tomoyuki Kurioka, and their Ph.D. students from the Materials & Structures Laboratory, Institute of Integrated Research, Institute of Science, Tokyo. The delegation was warmly received by Associate Professor Charusruk Viphavakit, Dr. Porpin Pungetmongkol, Dr. Ngaw Chee Keong, and Dr. Soracha Dechaumphai. During their visit, the guests toured the Nano-Engineering laboratories and engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty members and researchers. The conversations focused on collaborative opportunities in advanced materials research and the potential development of joint graduate programs. These discussions aim to strengthen international academic exchange and promote innovation in nanotechnology. This visit marks a significant milestone in building academic and research partnerships between the two institutions, paving the way for impactful, long-term collaboration in the field of nanoengineering.

This year, the fourth-year Nano-Engineering students have showcased their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving abilities in tackling the challenge. Among all 9 teams!
