On April 25th, our talented students proudly presented their innovative projects at the AerCap ESG Challenge 2025. We were honored to have Mr. Joe Millar, Head of Technical (APAC) at AerCap — the world's largest aircraft leasing company — join us as an honorary judge. A special congratulations to Team HKT, the winning team! Their project, the "Sustainable Aviation Initiative for AerCap," proposed bold solutions to reduce carbon emissions through fuel-efficient aircraft, integrate bio-based and recyclable materials, and establish a comprehensive recycling program for retired aircraft — offering new revenue opportunities and advancing AerCap’s leadership in sustainable aviation. A heartfelt thank you to AerCap, not only for supporting this event but also for their continuous investment in education. Last year, AerCap generously awarded multiple scholarships to our aerospace students, empowering the next generation of aviation leaders. This competition marks the culmination of their journey. We’d like to thank our panel of judges – Asst Prof Pavisorn Chuenchum, Dr Aung Pyae, Dr Chonlatep Usaku, Dr Jeerapong Laonamsai, Dr Manasavee Lohvithee, and Aj Sawangjit Wongwanchai – for lending their time and expertise to this event. Your feedback truly inspired our students to push their ideas further. A big thank you also goes to our MC, Panmile Jatupanyaporn Chatiketu, and our TA team – Chutiwat Ataboonwongse, Kumpol Saengtabtim, Narakhan Khunsrimek, and Kyawt Hmue Khin – for helping things run smoothly from start to finish. Prof. Tomonari Furukawa, Professor and Zinn Faculty Scholar from Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of Virginia, gave a talk to introduce VICTOR (VIrginia Cooperative AuTOnomous Robotics) Lab during his visit to International School of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, on December 24, 2024. The visitation is hosted by Assoc. Prof. Ronnapee Chaichaowarat and his students.
